How do I know if I need a personal stylist?
There are numerous reasons a person might need style help, but the fact that you're reading this is a good indication that you're ready for a change. I would say there are two major categories of people who struggle with dressing themselves. The first are those who are confused about style, dislike shopping, and have a limited wardrobe to work with. The second are those who shop fairly often but don't necessarily make good style choices and don't know how to put looks together, or otherwise feel stuck in a rut. People that fall into the second category fall prey to the "closet full of nothing to wear" paradox. At either end of the spectrum there are solutions! Of course there are other more specific reasons you might need a stylist, such as wanting to improve your professional image or seeking a makeover after pregnancy, among many other possibilities.
Is the process really worth my money?
Absolutely. For someone who's stuck in a rut, or someone who's truly lost when it comes to image, this process can be life changing. It provides a fresh perspective on personal style. Plus I guarantee you will learn invaluable tips and tricks. A stylish new look can instill confidence and promote a renewed sense of self. Not to mention, it can save you money in the long run. I will help you pinpoint classic pieces that can be mixed and matched with ease, and that have long-term value. No more confusion about what to shop for and no more wasting money on items that don't get worn. Improving oneself and making life easier in the process is always a worthwhile investment.
What makes you different from all the other stylists in LA?
Great question! Here are some of the key factors that set my service apart:
1. I do not cater to the rich and famous. I believe style should be accessible for all people. I enjoy working with young professionals, busy moms, etc - real people who need real style solutions. No matter who you are and what you do, I want you to feel great about your image.
2. I take a very individualized approach to style. I don't like the idea of conforming everyone to the same cookie cutter mold of what's acceptable and what looks good. Style shouldn't be generic. It should be about finding your unique voice. I take a number of factors into account when developing your style...that's why my consultation process is so comprehensive.
3. I'm not only knowledgeable, I'm honest! Expertise is only part of the equation. One reason I'm so good at what I do is because I'm an honest, effective communicator. I want to help you be the best you can be, so I will always explain what works and what doesn't. If you try on a dress that turns out to be horrible, I won't convince you into thinking it looks good. I'll only give you the best advice possible, because that's what you've hired me to do.
4. When it comes to shopping, I'm the discount queen. Sales, coupons, even haggling...I employ I vast array of tactics when it comes to getting the best deal. Whether shopping for a client, or for myself, I don't pay retail 95% of the time. And because I shop so often, I know all the best ways to go about securing that discount. It's not uncommon for me to purchase three or four items with a total price tag equaling less than the retail value of just one of those items. What this means for you is that I can find you better quality merchandise at a price you can afford.
5. I offer an awesome referral program. Refer just ONE friend or family member that definitively books a service, and you'll receive 30% off a second session with me...whether it's a three hour session or an eight hour session!
Sounds great, but can I really afford your services?
For most people, the answer is YES. If you can budget a minimum of $300 then you have enough to cover a basic service, such as a three hour Closet Revival session. If you need/want to go shopping then you'd have to budget more. I would say the average client spends between $300 - $1000 depending on their individual needs.
What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept cash, check, and payments via PayPal.
Do I have to pay extra for clothing?
Yes, the price of clothing is not included in my rate. However, as previously mentioned, I pride myself as a highly skilled discount shopper. If you think you're in need of a shopping trip, plan to spend a minimum of $200 for several key pieces. With a larger budget ($500+) I can work wonders and potentially deliver a whole new wardrobe!
Speaking of shopping, do I go with you or do you shop alone?
Good question, and in fact, I leave this one up to the client. I believe there are benefits to you accompanying me on a shopping trip...for example being able to try everything on the spot and mix-and-match as we go. However, for the most beneficial experience, you must be willing to step outside your comfort zone and trust my recommendations! Often the items clients are most apprehensive to try turn out to be their favorite pieces. That being said, if you have a busy schedule or just don't like shopping, I can easily go without you. In which case, I would bring everything to you in the comfort of your home, and then take care of returns afterwards. Please be aware, the latter option has an impact on cost, as the process is more time consuming. Whichever option you prefer, I am happy to accommodate your needs.
Can you style me for a special event or photo shoot?
Yes absolutely! I have ample experience styling for on-camera and special event scenarios. Please read about my event services here.
Do you style men?
Yes again! Though the bulk of my clientele tends to be female, I'm also skilled with menswear and work with male clients from time to time.
Do you travel outside the LA area?
I travel (free of charge) throughout LA county and certain portions of the Inland Empire. I will travel outside this area, but within Southern California, for a small added fee. If you're not local to So Cal, please consider booking me for a virtual styling session.
