To be perfectly honest, Jessica Simpson does cute shoes. Stylish and affordable...and better quality than many brands with a similar price point. Not to mention, when it comes to wedges and platforms, JS shoes are among the most comfortable I've tried. Her shoes have been a personal favorite for years now, though I tend to prefer the spring collections...always great color combos! I was super excited a few months back when I blogged about the emerald green Thunder platform. If it was any indication of spring shoes to come, I knew I'd want more than a few styles...and sure enough, here are some of my top picks of the moment. Necklace: JewelMint
Dress: Xhilaration (similar style) Belt: H&M (various styles) Clutch: New Look (similar style) Ring: Fossil (similar style) Wedges: Jessica Simpson For those of you who don't know, DV8 is one of Dolce Vita's diffusion lines. Slightly pricier than DV, and undoubtedly edgier, the concept is less than a year old, with the original collection launching last spring. I'm absolutely OBSESSED with their funky, color-pop wedges and platforms! These are just some of my current faves... DV8 Javelin Wedge @ nordstrom.com DV8 Plank Wedge @ nordstrom.com DV8 Yasmine Boot @ nordstrom.comRed Maxi: Temperley London, Black & White Body-Con: H&MWhat You Need To Know: - Stripes are a standard for spring, but this year they're more in than ever...A precedent set by numerous designers (including Michael Kors, Vivienne Westwood, Dolce & Gabbana, and more) during Fall Fashion Week last year. - There's a lot of controversy over whether horizontal stripes make you appear wider, or whether they might actually be slimming. Find one explanation here. Personally, I vote for slimming, assuming you use them the right way! - Use stripes to your advantage by wearing them wherever you'd like to draw attention. A striped tee or blouse is a great option if you want to draw the eye up. A body-con dress or pencil skirt is ideal if you want to emphasize curves. A striped band across the waist will have an immediate cinching effect, making your waist appear smaller. - Talking style tips, I'm a MAJOR fan of black & white (or navy & white) stripes paired with one bold color like yellow or red. Even neon pink, orange, etc. Try this look with nude pumps for a sexy, sophisticated vibe. Or dress it down for spring with espadrilles.
To kick off the first of my "new" blog entries, I decided to start with a well publicized personal obsession - shoes. Serious Shoe Love will be a series chronicling my top picks from a variety of different brands and designers. I'll mostly stick to affordable price-points, though I imagine some ultra-luxe styles will find there way in every now and then. While there's no harm in knowing what loveliness designers are up to, I want the majority of these shoes to be within reach for most people. That way, if you spot a pair you love, you can actually buy them! Some of my favorite fresh for spring pumps from BCBGeneration... BCBGeneration Cynthia Pump @ nordstrom.com BCBGeneration Izzie Pump @ nordstrom.com BCBGeneration Putnam Pump @ macys.comWith so many great things happening recently (and several more opportunities on the horizon) I've put some thought into re-doing my blog for a more user-friendly experience. For one thing, less words, more pictures. I have a tendency to write a lot. Always something to say. But I'm also super visual and prefer photo blogs myself. Pictures are gold. Next, enter my plans for a more systematic approach. Although it's easy to blog about whatever strikes my fancy, I don't love the seemingly random nature of my blog as it is. Hence, expect a Style Me Senseless revamp starting ASAP. Hope you guys love the new style as much as I hope I will :) Feel free to comment with thoughts! *Image courtesy of herveleger.com
